Frequently Asked Questions

What scanner brands does Nimble sell and service?+

Nimble is an authorized Canadian partner for Kodak Alaris, Fujitsu (Ricoh) fi-Series and SP-Series, Canon imageFORMULA, Graphtec, Colortrac, Microtek, e-ImageData ScanPro, Scantron, ROWE, and Contex. We sell, configure, and service production document scanners, microfilm/microfiche scanners, large-format scanners, book scanners, and OMR scanners across all ten brands.

Which Kodak Alaris, Fujitsu (Ricoh), or Canon scanner is right for our volume?+

We size the recommendation to your daily/monthly page volume, document types, and downstream system. Light volumes (under 2,500 pages/day) usually land on Fujitsu fi-Series or Canon imageFORMULA workgroup models. Heavy production (10,000+ pages/day) typically maps to Kodak Alaris production scanners or Fujitsu fi-7000-series. Microfilm conversion runs on e-ImageData ScanPro. Large-format engineering drawings run on Graphtec, Colortrac, ROWE, or Contex. We'll spec it on the call.

Do you sell large-format and microfilm scanners too?+

Yes. For large-format (engineering drawings, blueprints, plans, maps) we carry Graphtec, Colortrac, ROWE, and Contex. For microfilm, microfiche, and aperture cards we carry e-ImageData ScanPro. For bound volumes and fragile originals we carry Microtek book scanners. For OMR forms processing we carry Scantron.

Do you sell to government and regulated industries?+

Yes. Nimble has supplied document scanners, capture software, and maintenance to federal departments, provincial governments, regional health authorities, and regulated private-sector clients for over 20 years. Procurement-compliant quotes, standing offers, and statement-of-work formats are routine for us.

Can you bundle hardware with capture software and maintenance?+

Yes. Most engagements bundle the scanner, capture/workflow software licences, and a multi-year maintenance plan into a single quote. We size the bundle based on daily page volume, document types, and where the scanned output needs to land (DMS, ECM, ERP, case management).

Do you sell scanning consumables, and how do I order them?+

Yes. Nimble stocks OEM and compatible consumables for every brand we sell — Kodak Alaris, Fujitsu (Ricoh), Canon imageFORMULA, and the large-format lines. That includes feed rollers, separation pads, pre-separation modules, imaging guides, calibration sheets, replacement lamps, and cleaning kits (wipes, swabs, pads). To order, contact our team with your scanner model and serial number and we'll quote the parts list and shipping. Recurring shipments can be set up on a standing order so you don't run out mid-shift.

How do I know which consumables my scanner needs?+

Tell us your scanner make, model, and approximate page count since last consumables replacement. We map that to the manufacturer's recommended replacement intervals (typically every 100K–600K pages for rollers and pads, depending on model) and quote the right kit. For production fleets we can build a predictive consumables schedule so the parts arrive before the scanner starts misfeeding.

Do you offer maintenance contracts? What do they cover?+

Yes. Nimble offers maintenance contracts on every scanner line we sell. Standard tiers include scheduled preventive maintenance, on-site service across Canada by bonded technicians, response-time SLAs, parts coverage, and loaner units during major service events. Higher tiers add consumables, software updates, and priority response. Contracts are typically 1, 3, or 5 years and can be bundled into the initial scanner quote or added later.

How do I get a maintenance contract for our existing scanners?+

Contact us with your scanner inventory — make, model, serial number, location, and approximate monthly volume per unit. We'll quote a multi-year maintenance plan with the right service tier for each scanner. We support contracts on equipment we originally sold and on equipment purchased through other channels, including older Kodak Alaris, Fujitsu (Ricoh), and Canon production scanners that are still in service. Coverage typically starts within 2–4 weeks of contract execution.

Where do you provide on-site service?+

Nimble provides on-site service across Canada through our three Protected B facilities (Aurora, Ottawa, Winnipeg) and partner field technicians coast to coast. Service response targets are set per contract and reflect facility location, volume, and criticality.

How do I get a quote?+

Click 'Request a Quote' on this page or contact Nimble directly. For most quotes we'll need: estimated daily/monthly page volume, document types and conditions, target output system (DMS, ECM, ERP, etc.), and any regulatory or security requirements (e.g., Protected B). A quote typically follows within 1–3 business days.

Can I see scanners in person before buying?+

Yes. We arrange demos at our Aurora, Ottawa, or Winnipeg facilities, or can ship evaluation units for production trials on larger engagements. Demos are commonly paired with a workflow walkthrough so you see the scanner in the context of the capture software and downstream system.

All work delivered from Nimble’s three Protected B facilities in Aurora, Ottawa, and Winnipeg — with bonded service across Canada.
